METAMORA PATTER'S WEEKLY NEWSPAPER ARTICLE: THE CHURCH ON THE MOVE

THE CHURCH ON THE MOVE
BY PAT GULLEY

Gen 1:1-2
(1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
(2) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (KJV)

From the beginning of the Creation in Genesis we see the Holy Spirit of God on the move. The Day of Pentecost is a new beginning in the Creation of God, as we again see the Holy Spirit of God on the move. This day in which we are living denotes a real need for the Spirit of God to be moving in our Churches. The Apostle Peter told of a period of time when the Lord Jesus Christ would be sitting on the right hand of His Father in Heaven and when the Holy Spirit would be moving in the earth.

Acts 3:19-21
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
(20) And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
(21) Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began (KJV)

That time is NOW. That day is TODAY. The Spirit of God is at this present time moving on the hearts of fallen men and women and convincing them that they need to be saved. He is convincing them that they are knee deep in sin and cannot lift themselves out of the horrible miry pit. He is giving them a true understanding of a Devil's Hell and it is causing them to be very, very nervous and defensive.

John 16:7-8
(7) Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
(8)And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: (KJV)

The Holy Spirit and the Comforter are one and the same. I appreciate the fact that it is not God's intention to humiliate or degrade the sinner, but to convince them that they need Him if they are to ever be at peace with themselves and with God, their Creator. God loved the world when He gave His only begotten Son to live the perfect life required under the Law, and He loved the world when He led His son to Calvary to die for the sins of sinners.(2 Co 5:19) He especially loved the world when He raised His Son from the dead and set Him at His own right hand to oversee the Holy Spirit's ministry of reconciling the world to Himself. (Heb 10:12-13)

We are living in the days of Restitution. I will grant that it has been almost 2,000 years since Jesus rose from the dead and sat down at Father's right hand, but I must also point out that in each and every generation there were those who accepted the Lord as their Savior and lived their lives to tell others about their wondrous deliverance. The Holy Spirit has always been on the move in the earth and He is on the move today. I pray that you are a member of a Church that is partnering with the work of the Comforter and that you are being refreshed in your love and dedication for the salvation of the lost, the deliverance of the captives, and the securing of the hearts and souls of man to God.
