THIS WEEK'S NEWSPAPER ARTICLE

IT'S IMPORTANT WHO YOU HANG WITH
BY PAT GULLEY

Gal 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (KJV)

It is important whom you hang with. When Jesus Christ was nailed to the Cross and hung there from 9:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon, you and I were hanging there also because it was our sins that were laid upon Him.

Isa 53:4-6
(4) Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
(5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
(6)All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (KJV)

The Apostle Paul was proud of who he hung with. He said, "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live." Paul was not ashamed of hanging with Jesus and Jesus is not ashamed to call us His brothers and sisters because He willingly laid down His life for each of us.
Heb 2:11
For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, (KJV)
A fundamental principle of the Christian Doctrine is the fact that Jesus not only died for us, but He also lives for us and with us. He did not leave us to fulfill His commission alone. He sent the Holy Spirit to indwell us and to empower us to be and to do all that He needs us to be and to do. We are to be the light in the darkest corners of the earth. We are to be the witnesses that others see and can understand that it is by the Grace of God that we are saved and redeemed. We are to be His eyes and ears and His hands and feet.
We can hang out with Jesus and not worry about the day ahead let alone the days ahead. He is our friend that sticks closer than a brother and He is always on our side if we are on His side.
There is a song that I like to sing called, "Abraham's Blessings are Mine." Bro Paul wrote to the Church at Galatia and told them that the blessings of Abraham were on all born again believers
Gal 3:13-14
(13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
(14) That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (KJV)

Jesus hung on the tree so He could hang out with us. Like I said before, it is very important whom you hang out with. By the way, who are you hanging with?
